Smoking in public is further regulated.

General Court passes a law that prohibits smoking within 300 feet of all homes, barns, fields, forests, inns, and public houses – effectively banning it anywhere in the town – and raises the fine to 10 shillings. These and other anti-smoking laws remain in effect until 1880.*
